The morning.
There are a few non-negotiables in my morning routine. They are not flashy but they are mine and I want to share them with you.
I love the sound of the grinding beans, the smell of the earthy sweet coffee and the warm smooth earthy biter taste on the tip of my tongue. But first coffee has been a ritual of mine since my early 20’s and I am not ready to trade it in for lemon water, match or a golden latté.
Take care of the dishes. Going to bed with a completely empty sink is the goal but not my reality in this season of life. In the morning I empty the dishwasher and pop anything left out from the night before into the washer.
My journals are a mess. I would be horrified if anyone read them they are basically a running commentary of the messiness of the insides of my brain. Regardless it makes me feel like a little bit more of a sane person after the contents of my brain are on paper and not bopping around in my head.
Each morning I wash my face with cold water. I am not a cold shower person and I don’t care to get involved in the debate of wether or not it is good for the hormones or metabolism but what I do know if that a cold rinse on my face wakes me up, shuts my pores and thats enough.
